The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Be sure to check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also have a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to how dirty they are.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Also a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. robot vacuum cleaner uk can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
